About Matt

Matt LaFortune first started advocating for livable communities while working on political campaigns as a college student in South Bend, Indiana. Since settling in DC a decade ago, Matt has organized volunteers to fight for DC Statehood and elect Democrats in the District and across the country. He currently serves as an At-Large Committeeman with the DC Democratic Party and an officer with the Ward 6 Democrats.

As a resident member of the ANC 6B Transportation Committee, Matt has worked with Commissioners and neighbors to support legislation that will make our communities safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers and has provided public testimony to inform DDOT's plan to right-size Southeast Blvd. and Barney Circle.
